Inventions Taking Form

Today was an exciting day for 3G. Most of the students' inventions began to take form!!! Students were sewing, cutting, measuring, experimenting with materials, and re-designing on the fly. I don't want to give too much away (hence no photos), but the excitement for the Invention Convention is brewing!!

Alien Invasion

P108

6th grade students took on the challenge of developing a classification system for a population of recently discovered aliens.
THIS JUST IN!!!
We have been given word that another, smaller aircraft has been spotted heading toward Earth, set to arrive next week! Eek...we will see how the classification systems hold up!

Great Grains

P103

4RJ learned about the anatomy and nutrition of a grain.

To simulate digestion of grains, students dipped white bread and wheat bread in orange juice. Ask your student which type of bread held up best (took longer to digest) in the acid.

An Apple A Day...

Meena, Hunter's own resident Wellness In The Schools representative, worked to transform the 4L students into chef-nutritionists.  The students learned about the science of apples and applesauce and had many interesting conversations about the benefits of eating locally grown foods.  Ask your child why eating a raw apple is more nutritious than drinking apple juice.

The students used a variety of New York State apples to make the applesauce:
