Mirrors and Reflection
10/2/12
Third grade students worked with mirrors, exploring the concept that light travels in straight lines. The students also used the mirrors to complete several challenges. Here is one of the challenges:
1. Which letters of the alphabet (upper or lower case) are not changed when viewed with a mirror?
2. What words are not changed when viewed with mirror?
3. Can you write a sentence that does not get changed when viewed with a mirror?
Here are some of the clever sentences students in 3K and 3M came up wtih. Grab a mirror and try them out!
I lIKE to HIKE.
tHE tICK lIKED tHE CHICK.
KICK tHE toll BOOtH.
BOB lIKED tHE cool BIKE BooK.
Can you come up with other sentences? Leave a comment and we will share them in class!
